Briefly Summarizing Known History Of The Property:
Monroe Road was once known
as the major commercial corridor which led to Monroe, NC. Thus, trucks
and automobiles became the principal means of transportation through this
area. Inevitably, with this abundance of heavy pass-through traffic, a
surplus of commercial structures were rapidly developing along the then new
interstate. With growing disposable incomes across the nation, men and
women had the money, and the time to get hair cuts, to look and feel
attractive. We believe Oakhurst Flowers & Fruits to have originally
been a beauty parlor and a barber shop.
