13.  Paragraph Briefly Summarizing Known History Of The Property:

North Tryon Street was formerly known as part of the major commercial corridor US N29 which ran through Charlotte, NC.  Thus, automobiles and trucks became the principal means of transportation through this area.  Inevitably, restaurants, eateries, and drive-ins such as Hurlocker's Park Drive-In became part of the streetscape.  Modern architecture was becoming more popular around the 1950's and architects were not timid as they had once been to use the revolutionary building tools of metal, cement, plastic, and plywood.  What is significant about Hurlocker's Park-Drive in is that although it resembles many other Drive-In eateries made during the same time period, (i.e.: South 21, Bar-B-Q-King, and Town & Country Drive-In) the main building of the Park Drive-In is made of wood.  Although, the over-hang is made of reinforced sheet metal.  More structures were beginning to cater specifically to the automobile since they were becoming significantly more prevalent.
